At ten p.m. I called Bart while sitting at the kitchen table. T. was out at the TVA again, and I had the apartment to myself. While I didn't know if he'd be upset by me contacting someone on his behalf, my gut said he wouldn't be pleased at the idea of me going to the police about this, myself.

After a few rings, the phone connected. "Detective Greene." The voice sounded a little tired and more than a little bored.

"Ah, hello," I said awkwardly. Phones weren't my preferred method of communication. "Axton Graves gave me your number."

"Ax did? Okay… and you are?"

"Oh, sorry. I'm Cass."

"Cass. And what can I do for you, Cass?" His tone was somewhat playful, like my awkwardness amused him somehow.
