Choosing a professional to work with is stressful and can often cause anxiety if you don’t know what to look for. Fortunately, finding someone reliable is easier than you think.
I’m disappointed Reedsy has such poor compensation. Their blog posts helped me get started as a self-published author. I moved on from them, but I thought they had the potential to be the high end service. But not if the compensation isn’t worth it.
I have been consistently disappointed by them and their "selection process" for editors. I applied because I got an email from them saying I should, and they declined me without any information, and I've been an editor for over a decade and a half. It's ridiculous.
Their compensation is definitely disappointing, too. They have some excellent editors on there, and I'm sure they are a reasonable resource for authors, but as an editor? Not great.
ACES used to be called the American Copy Editors Society... A couple of years ago they dropped that as an official name, because they wanted to appeal to all kinds of editors. While the organization is still called ACES, officially it's now called The Society for Editors.

Exactly. It's not worth it.

I hope you’re feeling better now.
I'm starting to. The seasonal weather shifts always get me. I'm usually miserable in March and November. :)

Ah! There it is! Thank you!
No problem...
